Tory Democracy?

David Cameron's media attack dogs (and even the BBC) have made a big deal of Ed Miliband not having won the first rounds of the Labour leadership contest and of most Labour MPs having voted for someone else.

Let's take a reality check.

At the Tory leadership election in 2005 Cameron won only 56 MPs' votes in the first ballot (28.3%).

This compares to Ed Miliband's backing from 84 MPs (31.6%) in the first ballot of the recent election.
